All of our event packages include the TTRPG game sessions, accommodation, meals, soft drinks and snacks during the event as well as local transport to and from the pick-up location to the venue.
Yes, you have 7 days from booking to request a cancellation and refund, minus any credit card fees.
All guests to our residential events and tours must be 18 years or older at the time the event begins.
You are responsible for ensuring that you are able to travel to our pick-up location. If you are travelling from outside of the UK this may require a passport and potentially a visa.
You will be asked for government issued ID when you are checked into the venue, this is so we can check that you are the person we are expecting.
You will receive an automated confirmation email. Then we will send you an email within 48 hours of your order. This will be an introduction from our team to provide you with some more information about the package you have booked and to send you some important information. We will then send you your welcome pack in the post and set up a line of communication between yourself and your DM/Game Master. You will then receive regular updates from us as we approach the event.
Yes, we can accommodate most dietary requirements. We will ask you for this information as part of our initial conversation with you after booking.
It depends. We advise getting in touch with us on contact@youmeetinatavern.co.uk. We always try and accommodate as many people's needs as possible, however the nature of some of our venues - for example a 800 year old castle, are not very accessible. But please do get in touch with us and we will do all we can to accommodate your needs.
Yes, we have a few house rules that we require all guests to adhere to. But don't worry they are fairly simple.
1) If you are going to sit down at a game table we expect you to be sober, engaged and clean.
2) No illegal drugs - smoking and vaping are allowed in approved areas only and never at the game table.
3) No real world politics at game table.
4) Respect our staff, the other guests and yourself.
Yes, we want you to make and keep as many memories as you can. The only limit is
1) Private areas - Other people's bedrooms and bathrooms.
2) Staff area - Staff bunkhouse, storage and catering areas.
3) Anyone who asks you not to take photo/video of them. Other than that, capture all you can, and don't forget to send us the best examples!
You will need to sort out your travel to, and onward travel from the pick-up location. For example at our Manorbier event you will need to be able to meet us in the tavern in Swansea. We will then provide transport onward to our event venue as well as return transport - usually this will be a chartered coach.
It depends, for a four night event such as our Manorbier event, you will play for between two and eight hours.
Cosplay is not only welcome, it is encouraged. Especially during the banquets. However we do have a couple of rules:
1) Keep them PG13 - costumes should not be too revealing or suggestive.
2) Remember our rules on no real world politics.
No functional weapons, keep it plastic and fantastic or if not, wood is good.
It depends on the location and time of year. We always recommend dressing warm given the nature of our venues. We will provide recommendations for you in your welcome pack.
Where physically possible (Not limited by ancient architecture or similar) we provide complimentary wifi.
It depends, we will let you know before the event, but usually you will be able to get some form of signal.
Definately! We either mix newbie players in with slightly more experienced players, or if we have enough first time players we run a group specifically for them. Your DM/Game Master will discuss your level of experience well in advance.
Our chief DM is Angus, he puts together the stories and session materials. We then engage additional DMs as needed depending on the location and number of guests.
We develop our own campaigns in-house. Which we rotate through to make sure that all groups have a fresh experience. We will provide more details about the specific campaign when you meet your DM/ Game Master.
Just yourself and an eagerness to get involved. But if you have a favourite set of dice, or a dice tower/copy of books/miniature etc you are more than welcome to bring them.
Closer to the event, you will be assigned a DM and will have the opportunity to do a session zero with them where you can discuss your ideas for a character. If you can't think of any, the DM can assign you one.
We hope so. For context our founder is an introvert who thought that TTRPGs weren't a good fit, until he found a great group. We hope we can be that great group that helps you get comfortable. Each of our DMs and Game Masters is experienced in players of all types and personalities. They will discuss with you what your goals are, if you want them to help coax you out of your shell, they can. Or if you prefer to just wait until you are comfortable, they won't pressure you. In fact if you wanted to you could go the whole campaign without roleplaying, with the DM picking up that element for you through a collaborative approach.
We want the campaign to reflect what you enjoy about the game and roleplaying can be a big part of that. But we also want everyone to feel comfortable, including our staff so we have a few rules:
1) Keep it PG13 as far as sexual content is concerned. Everyone likes the horny bard trope until it goes to far.
2) Death and unpleasantness are part of life and part of a combat based TTRPG, however roleplaying that is shocking for the sake of shocking is not welcome. This includes use of excessively graphic or lewd actions/descriptions, anything involving unnecessary sadism or cruelty especially as it relates to children and animals, excessive or particularly crass vulgarity including swearing, slurs or insults.
We would like to be clear that as event organisors we are not here to police your role playing, but please use common sense and moderation, and as ever if your DM asks you to stop - stop.
We will never try and upset or shock our guests. But we do not outright ban any topic from featuring in the game session roleplaying. Abuse of this lenience that delves into disrespect or attempts to simply shock others will be dealt with by the staff.
We expect all of our guests to make a good faith attempt to attend every gameplay session. However, if you are unwell or are otherwise indisposed, please let a member of staff know. We do not offer any form of refund or rebate for missed sessions, but equally we cannot force you to play.
Talk to a member of staff. At each of our events we will have a designated member of staff who is your pastoral support. If you have an emergency of any kind, a falling out with another guest or a member of staff or just need to talk about something, they are there for you. We will attempt to defuse any unpleasantness between guests as tactfully and positively as we can. In our experience most of the issues in TTRPG sessions come down to boundaries and communication and we will work with you to understand the issue and try and find a resolution.
